About Malcolm Warneford-Thomson, CFP®

Malcolm Warneford-Thomson has been a licensed investment professional for 30 years. He began his career in his native England, and for the past ten years he has been serving clients in Virginia, Maryland, and New York.

He has advised clients through the 1987 crash, the long term capital crisis, Y2K, the dot-com boom and bust, and recent turmoil in the markets. These experiences have sharpened his appreciation of consultative planning, and diversification of investments.

Malcolm has also learned the value of keeping a cool head in difficult times brought about by market corrections. He strives to interpret current events and then acts as a valuable guide through choppy financial periods.

He is a graduate of Lancaster University in the UK with degrees in computers and math. He currently holds the series 7 and 66 FINRA licenses. He also holds the Life and Fixed Annuities, Health and Variable Annuities licenses. He has earned the Certified Financial Planner designation from the CFP® Board.

Malcolm served as an officer in the Royal Marines, speaks multiple languages and enjoys trail riding via horseback. He and his wife Martha, a retired educator, met while riding through the Canadian Rockies. They are parents of three children, two recent college graduates and one student at Virginia Tech. He also became a U.S. Citizen in 2012.

Malcolm is a member of the FPA , Financial Planning Association. He is also active in Rotary, currently serving on his local executive board. He is a founding board member of the Washington D.C. British Officers Club, serves on his local homeowner’s association board, and is a former Board of Trustee member for his church.
